What this site is
DarkSkyCheck reports a city-level sky-brightness band derived from NOAA/EOG's public VIIRS satellite radiance dataset. It is informational only and is not a Bortle class, a weather forecast, or a guarantee of what will be visible from any specific location on any specific night.
No warranty on the figures
Every figure traces to the named dataset in the methodology guide, but a satellite measurement is not a promise: moonlight, cloud cover, elevation, and an individual's own night vision all move what a person actually sees, and none of those are in this dataset. Nothing on this site should be the sole basis for travel plans, an equipment purchase, or a property decision.
No professional advice
Nothing on this site is astronomical, environmental, or real-estate advice. Anyone planning an observation trip around a specific event should also check a live weather and Moon-phase forecast for that night, not this site alone.
